Busy times with no updates! That changes now (at least for now).

I've assembled a new iteration of my Exalted hack, UX: F1. Check it out!

For the first time, the Cheese Wedge is going to a convention! SCARAB 2014 will host as special Wedge from early morning to late at night, with the finals happening Sunday afternoon, so come by and play/die! Maybe if you ply me with treats, I can be convinced to run an indie game Sunday evening after the slaughter.

Dragon*Con 2013

posted Aug 19, 2013, 9:31 AM by Paul H

Another Dragon*Con is weeks away! I'm spearheading Indie Games on Demand this year, and I'll be bringing about 16 games, give or take, so come see me Friday afternoon, Friday evening, and Saturday evening on the second floor of the Hilton. If you're in the mood for more traditional fare, ride the escalator down to the Hilton basement and you'll see me running the Cheese Grinder Friday and Saturday nights. Delightful.

The 2013 Game Chef contest is over, and I submitted something! Andy, Stephen, and I wrote it. We played a version of it last night and it was brutal. Check it out!

The RPG Workshop

posted Oct 30, 2012, 4:09 PM by Paul At Regret Games   [ updated Oct 30, 2012, 6:25 PM ]

So, MoatCon 3 was this past weekend, and a productive conversation with Will and Bowen led me to a new idea. This... well, this isn't it, but it's a stepping stone.
Allow me to introduce the RPG Workshop, a joint venture of Regret Games and Firefly Toys & Games. It's essentially a classroom environment in which game masters and game players get exposure to some of the new ideas that have come out of the indie games movement in the last decade-and-change.
Because, while most of the thinking that's arisen from The Forge and Story Games has produced indie games, there's enough wisdom and insight to go around. Everyone, no matter what sort of game they enjoy, can benefit from this good stuff. It's just a matter of sorting through it.
The workshop will be at Firefly on November 17th. I've cut it up into a pair of two-hour slots, one aimed at GMs and one for role-players in general. Register for either or both here.

Dragon*Con 2012

posted Aug 23, 2012, 11:43 AM by Paul At Regret Games

Dragon*Con is just around the corner. This year, Arnold and I will be spearheading the push to bring Games on Demand to our favorite Atlanta convention. Exciting stuff!

Head down to Gaming Registration in the lower level of the Hilton to find the Games on Demand booth. There, a friendly attendant will fill you in on what games are available to be Demanded, who'd be running them, and when the next slot starts. Then, head upstairs to Hilton room 302 at the appropriate time and take a seat in the mustering area. Make sure you've got a ticket (or three generic tickets) and we'll be golden

Sound almost exactly like the usual Dragon*Con gaming setup? It is. We're pushing for incremental change, so this year's a proof-of-concept. Come help us make it a success!

Arnold and I will be running games in the following four-hour time slots:
DaySlotsStart Times
Friday2,3,41 PM, 6 PM, 10 PM
Saturday6,7,81 PM, 6 PM, 10 PM
Sunday101 PM

As for the games themselves, I'll be bringing Apocalypse World, Dogs in the Vineyard, Fiasco, Ganakagok, Geiger Counter, Ingenuous, Little Fears, Misspent Youth, The Mountain Witch, Murderous Ghosts, Poison'd, The Shab-al-Hiri Roach, and Sideload. There's also the possibility of Nathan Paoletta's Vesna Thaw and Witness the Murder of Your Father Young Prince and Be Ashamed, and Jake Richmond's and Matt Schlotte's Panty Explosion Perfect. It'll be a barnburner.  See you there!
